Musculoskeletal Treatment

Restorative & Regenerative Medicine for Musculoskeletal Problems

Fresh Start Health & Wellness is on the forefront of these emerging technologies, employing stem cell therapies across the PM&R field. Stem cell treatments offer an exciting option to help your body heal and prevent the need for surgery, allowing you to turn back the clock and get back to doing what you are missing. This can be the perfect solution for treating chronic pain, including pain from ligaments, tendons, physical injuries and arthritis.

Joints, Ligaments, Tendons, Muscles

Through the use of regenerative medicine, we offer comprehensive care for injuries, strains, sprains, arthritis, and pain, providing dedicated assistance for those in need.

Stem Cells

Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that our body has in reserve with the purpose of regenerating, restoring, and healing damaged/injured tissues throughout the body. We know of three types of stem cells which include hematopoetic, neuronal, and mesenchymal. We are primarily concerned with the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC’s), which have been shown in the laboratory to be able to differentiate into bone cells, cartilage cells, muscle cells, skin cells, fat cells, and connective tissue. It is their unique capabilities that potentially offer great promise in the field of musculoskeletal medicine.

Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet rich plasma derived from whole blood. The Platelet portion of the blood that is responsible for stimulating the growth and repair of tissue. It can be used to decrease inflammation, alleviate pain in a joint, promote the healing of a torn tendon, ligament or muscle and stimulate the activation and reparative process of the stem cells.

Alpha-2-Macroglobulin

Alpha 2 Macroglobulin is a large protein that circulates in our blood and is known to break down enzymes responsible for cartilage destruction. It is isolated from the blood by a very specific process and then concentrated and injected into a joint to retard the degenerative processes that may be going on in a joint. It has been shown that individuals with low levels of A-2-M in their joints have more degeneration. The research out of Brown University has shown promise as to the clinical utility of this product in animal studies.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is also known as a nonsurgical ligament and tendon reparative injection. Prolotherapy is an orthopedic procedure that stimulates natural healing of connective tissue. It is a treatment that dates back to the 1950’s, commonly used in the osteopathic realm.

Percutaneous Needle Tenotomy

Minimally invasive ultrasound-guided injections used to address chronic tendon problems.

Solution Focused

We will always go the extra mile to appropriately diagnose issues, discuss long-term impact, and devise treatments that address overall problems, not just surface-level complaints.

Powerful

Using regenerative / restorative medicine, Island Center for Functional and Restorative Medicine is able to offer comprehensive care for injuries, strains, sprains, and pain, providing dedicated assistance for those in need.

Testimonials

“Dr. Aylor spent a lot of time with me after my stem cell treatment teaching me how to strengthen the muscles around my knee and quad for stability and pain prevention. I would highly recommend his clinic.”

Cynthia J.

“I am very pleased with the time, attention and amount of conversation that the doctor has taken to evaluate, discuss and explain options for treatment. He is easy to talk to and I feel that I can ask questions and receive valuable feedback.”
