Hormone Therapy

Hormones are chemicals produced naturally by the body and released into the bloodstream to act on target organs and glands. To say they are important is an understatement. When our hormones are not in balance we do not function optimally.

Hormones influence our moods, energy, vitality, and sexuality. Without adequate hormone function we have a higher incidence of Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, cancer. Without adequate hormone function we lose motivation, have impaired sexual function, unable to control our weight and our emotions.

We treat each individual with a personalized medical approach to identify the specific factors that may be contributing to their condition and ailments. Bio-identical hormone’s are utilized to restore one’s health. We are here to help you in that journey to optimal health.

What hormones do we replace?

Testosterone

Increases muscle mass, bone density. Restores libido, energy, sexual function. Maintains brain function. Decreases body fat.

Estradiol

Decreases menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, irritability. Maintains brain function, collagen formation (healthy looking skin), bone density, sexual health and health of blood vessels.

Progesterone

Decreases menopausal symptoms. Protects the endometrium. Retards the negative effects of estrogen. Maintains bone health and brain function.

DHEA

Improves the health of skin. May improve osteoporosis and protects cognitive function.

Thyroid

The key hormone for energy and metabolism. Abnormalities can include fatigue, lack of energy, temperature dysregulation, loss of hair, GI dysfunction, fatigue, lack of well-being.

Melatonin

Essential hormone for sleep. It is a strong antioxidant that is helpful in restoring and maintaining appropriate brain function during sleep.

How do we replace them?

Pellet Insertion

Bio-identical testosterone and or estradiol pellets are concentrated, compounded hormone, biologically identical to the hormone that is

made in your own body. A pellet is inserted under the skin, replaced every 4-6 months for men and 2-4 months for females

Oral Medication/Hormone

DHEA, melatonin, thyroid progesterone, and/or estradiol in a pill form

Creams

Testosterone, DHEA and/or estradiol cream can be applied to the skin, and absorbed

Bio-identicle hormone pellet insertion:

What to expect?

Your insertion site is covered with two layers of bandages. The inner steri-strip should not be removed before 7 days.

We recommend an ice pack for the insertion area a couple of times for about 20 minutes about 5 hours following the insertion.

No tub baths, hot tub, or swimming pool for 5-7 days after insertion

You may shower but do not scrub the site until the incision is well healed (about 7 days)

No major gluteal exercises 7 days post procedure, including running,  squats, riding a horse, etc.

The insertion site may be uncomfortable for up to 2 to 3 weeks.

May have bruising, swelling, and/or redness of the insertion site which may last from a few days up to 3 weeks.

Post-insertion blood work 5 weeks after the insertion
